Not at the top of your game?
Reading below grade level?
Don’t know multiplication facts?
Can’t write in cursive?
Struggle with behaving?
Shy?
Growing up is not without its pains. In fact, growing up is hard enough without other people stomping on all your faults. What do you say we make an effort to raise the standards? How about working hard to erase all the problems and help other people along the way? Why can’t we encourage others, inspire others, and improve ourselves?
It won’t be easy, but together, we can achieve more. Here’s how it works:
The way I see it, we are responsible for ourselves, but we are also responsible for stopping our friends before they step off the edge of a cliff. So…the teacher in this classroom will offer awards for three things: encouraging, inspiring, and improving. This will involve setting some personal goals, being willing to talk about them in class or put them down on paper, and following through to meet those goals.
- When you get the chance to say something positive about or do something positive for a classmate, take it.
- When you have the opportunity to help someone who needs help, do it.
- When you see a way to improve, don’t let another moment pass.
- And never give up.
You may not be the best at what you do. That’s what taking flight is all about. Here is your chance to make a difference and be rewarded for it. You don’t have to make the highest grade, and you don’t have to be the perfectly-behaved student. This is about getting better at those things, it’s not about being the best.
It’s about trying.
And trying.
And trying.
It’s time to stretch those wings of yours and show the world that you can soar!
